I teach Film and Screen Studies at the University of Brighton. Much of my research concerns videogames, specifically horror videogames, more specifically, ‘Silent Hill’.

I also research children’s culture, a development of my PhD which was on children’s cinema. Much of my work in this area critically explores the ways in which media for children constructs ideas of children and childhood.

I have also published on the construction of identity through the media: film, TV, videogames. Much of this work concentrates on ‘central’ identities, such as masculinity, heterosexuality and racial whiteness.
